We are a small group of senior-level artisans ready to get personal with your project.
Todd graduated from Stanford University with an Electrical Engineering degree at the peak of the dot-com crash and was unable to get a job in the tech field. He moved back to Boulder, Colorado, and began toying with graphic and web design software, taking on small projects as they came up. Fast forward two decades, and his hobby has morphed into a thriving little business.
Todd, his wife, and two daughters live in Longmont, Colorado. In his free time, Todd volunteers as an assistant wrestling coach at the local middle school and high school.

After graduating with a B.A. from CU Boulder, Hilary explored various parts of the world before returning to Colorado. She started as a designer at DD9 10+ years ago, but is now focused on building and maintaining sites as DD9's primary front-end developer.

Research + Discover
We start each project with a kickoff meeting where we identify your key goals and technical requirements. This phase also includes research into competitors, design directions, and potential technology platforms.
Plan + Wireframe
We research user expectations and target common use cases, developing a clear sitemap and user flow for intuitive engagement and conversions.
Design + Create
During this phase, we focus on brand experience, content engagement, and creative expression through custom design. We work with our clients to create an end result that all sides will be proud of.
Develop + Deploy
Using the most appropriate technologies, we build standards-compliant, cross-platform websites and apps that are a close match to the design phase mockups.
Support + Maintenance
After launch, we offer optional web and graphics support to keep your site up-to-date and running smoothly. We love to nurture the long-term needs of our clients, keeping on top of print and online media so they can focus on growing their businesses.
/ Background
DD9 is a professional branding, web design and web development firm based in Boulder, Colorado.
DD9 was founded in 2011, when Todd Dumas set up a studio in Boulder and put a new name on a decade of experience. Todd spent the 2000s designing and building websites for Colorado businesses — first as a solo practice, later with development partners — before deciding the work had outgrown its freelance roots and deserved a real firm behind it.
One of DD9’s founding moves was bringing on Hilary Clarcq, an exceptionally talented graphic designer and illustrator with an interest in website development. Today, Hilary is a DD9 principal and our lead front-end web developer.
From the new ‘NoBo’ (North Boulder) studio, DD9 spent its first decade building custom web applications (Ruby on Rails), doing deep custom WordPress development, and expanding graphic design services to support large companies.
Looking forward, DD9 expects to continue our strong growth trend as we take on increasingly sophisticated development projects and large scale marketing/design campaigns.
