Boulder County Sustainability is a local government entity that’s committed to creating a sustainable future for Boulder County and its residents. We recently launched a new WordPress-powered, responsive website for BCS that showcases the reasons why sustainability should matter to BoCo residents.
A Personal Connection
The home page focuses on local residents and business owners who were asked, “What Does Sustainability Mean to You?” These lead photos and quotes create a personal connection between website visitors and the primary issues facing Boulder County. Further down the page, visitors can click into the core topics that are covered on the site to get more specifics.
Custom Icons
The site uses a custom icon set to further tell the story of sustainability in a colorful, consistent way. On smaller screens like mobile devices, the full icons are each reduced to their core circular component to save space while preserving continuity.
The story unfolds
Visitors can explore each of the six key Topics through a template that is split into two main areas: 1) Why It Matters and 2) What’s Being Done. The “Why It Matters” section explores the economic, social, and climate-related impacts of the Topic. In turn, “What’s Being Done” is divided into progress points, local initiatives, and the actions residents can take on their own.
